INTELLIGENT RESOURCE USE

Water

We have taken many measures to reduce our water use since we began our sustainability journey in 2001. Two important parts of our water reduction strategy were designing a microswitch to reduce water use in the plate-development process and raising awareness of water conservation among our staff.
Our water use has decreased by 96% (adjusted per $ of sales) since we began measuring in 2001. We believe we are now one of the most, if not the most, efficient water users in the industry.

Energy

Reducing our energy use has been a key priority at Focus Press throughout our sustainability journey. During the past ten years we have completed many energy efficiency projects, such as enclosing our heat-producing equipment, installing windows with a heat-reflecting coating and installing a power factor correction system to increase electrical efficiency. We even implemented a ‘no-tie policy’ to help reduce the need for air conditioners.

As a result, our energy use has decreased by 53% since we first begin measuring in 2001.

Waste Stream Management

At Focus Press we have worked hard on our waste stream management and we are proud of our achievements. We separate all plastics, paper, aluminium, timber pallets and ink cartridges on site for recycling and as a result our waste-to-landfill has dropped by a whopping 94.5% (adjusted per $ of sales) since we began measuring and reducing our waste in 2001.
Using materials and managing our waste more effectively saves us tens of thousands of dollars each year in expenses which allows us to offer a higher quality product at a lower cost to the environment. And a lower price to you, our client.
